How To Use Warm Mist Humidifiers

Most people will use a warm mist humidifier in their bedroom to fight off allergies, asthma, and other health problems. It has many health benefits and is easier and better to use than any medicine. Learn how to use these humidifiers efficiently.

Put the unit together by following the instructions it came with. Most models will require the use of a filter – which should be installed properly before the machine is turned on. Without it the unit will be useless.

Find the water fill line on the tank and fill it with lukewarm or warm water. If there is a separate tank for medication inhalants than pour it in before you plug the humidifier in and turn it on. Make sure that your humidifier allows this and if there are any specific inhalants you should use.

Set the unit on a stable surface and out of the reach of children and pets. They function by boiling water so that it will produce steam. If knocked over it can cause serious burns.

You never want the humidity levels to be too much or too less inside of your home. Use a hygrometer to measure it and make sure that it is stable. The healthy levels are between 35 to 45%. Anything above will increase the risk of mold growth, dust mites, and bacteria in your home.

Clean out the humidifier after each use. This will prevent bacteria and mold from growing and escaping into the air. You can use warm water and mild soap to clean out the tank for the medication and water. Also make sure that you change out the filter as often as the manual instructions tell you.
